1 million tonnes of CO2 not emitted into the atmosphere thanks to Back Market

1 million! That's how many tons of carbon emissions (CO2) have been saved from entering the atmosphere thanks to Back Market and its technology for recycling and reconditioning technological devices.

As the French unicorn, featured in the Vintage Altaroc Odyssey 2021, points out, this number was calculated based solely on the device categories included in the ADEME study, i.e. smartphones, laptops, desktops and tablets, but does not take into account game consoles.

In 2022, smartphone manufacturing generated over 223 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions worldwide.

Founded in 2014, Back Market has 480 employees, spread between Paris, Bordeaux, New York and Berlin. The company is present in thirteen countries, including France,Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan.
