The adoption of electronic medical image sharing remains slow. The vast majority of X-rays are still shared via physical media, such as discs. To transform a field that is still largely manual and time-consuming, HealthMark Group was founded in Dallas 15 years ago. Today, the company has already processed over 20 million document transfers, with a 98% customer retention rate.
For their part, Purview’s cloud solutions simplify the integration, analysis, and sharing of medical imaging data, providing fast and secure access to exams regardless of where the care was provided. These solutions are used by numerous university medical centers as well as five of the top ten pediatric hospitals in the country.
“The acquisition of Purview is a key step in our efforts to provide instant, self-service digital access to patient health data,” said Bart Howe, CEO of HealthMark. “Medical imaging has long been the main obstacle to rapid access to health information, due to the challenges associated with exchanging data in DICOM format [an encrypted format for medical images, which are often very large]. Our investment in Purview will provide healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders with a more comprehensive and immediate medical view, thereby accelerating care and ultimately improving patient health.”
In practical terms, patients no longer need to carry their test results with them or worry about losing them. Their images can be quickly accessed via a secure cloud, no matter where they are. This also gives doctors faster access to data, the ability to easily share it with other specialists, and the opportunity to provide faster, more informed diagnoses.
