Vast Data, a US specialist in massive data processing platforms for artificial intelligence, has reached a more than significant milestone. The company becomes a core component of the Google Cloud infrastructure. This is a turning point for the company founded in 2016. The native integration of the Vast Data software platform within Google Cloud Infrastructure will give enterprise customers access to a unified data management solution, optimized for AI, machine learning and advanced analytics workloads, on a global scale. The Vast architecture is designed to simplify access, governance and computation on large datasets, while guaranteeing extreme performance and high-level security. The integration includes InsightEngine, a processing engine that provides database, vector and inference services directly at the heart of the file system, and DataSpace, a single global namespace that eliminates silos between cloud, edge and on-premise. In practical terms, this means that users or applications can browse, read, write or analyze data as if it were all in one place, without having to worry about the physical location where it's actually stored.
For Google Cloud, this partnership considerably strengthens its value proposition vis-à-vis AWS and Microsoft Azure, by integrating a modern data engine designed natively for the new uses of generative AI, in particular augmented generation by retrieval, vector classification, dynamic knowledge bases and very low-latency data analysis.
For Vast Data, it's a first-rate technological validation and global exposure, with direct access to Google Cloud's hyperscale customer base. This announcement also reinforces its strategy of moving upmarket: already valued at over $9 billion by 2023, the American company is establishing itself as a key player in data storage and processing in the post-cloud and AI era. At a time when traditional infrastructures are struggling to keep pace with the growing demands of generative AI and real-time processing, Vast Data's software-based approach, integrated at the very heart of a leading public cloud, represents a major evolution.
