For the sixth edition of Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month, Vector Solutions pointed out that firefighters have a 9% higher risk of cancer and a 14% higher risk of death from the disease than the rest of the population. Access to specialized training is therefore a matter of survival in the firefighting profession. In pursuit of its mission to protect, the American company is launching a platform that allows small fire stations and volunteer firefighters (who represent 65% of all firefighters in the United States) to benefit from the same safety standards as large professional structures, by offering educational programs aimed at raising awareness and reducing operational risks. By digitizing skills tracking, Vector Solutions helps station chiefs ensure that every volunteer is ready to respond safely.
In practical terms, this new platform provides volunteer firefighters with new knowledge by centralizing training administration and compliance on a single, simplified interface that they can also access from home.
"Volunteer fire departments must meet the same training and preparedness requirements as large fire stations, if not stricter criteria, while often having far fewer resources at their disposal. The platform was designed to simplify access to essential training while helping these departments remain compliant, prepared, and operational, in a format tailored to the realities of volunteerism," explains Josh Grossman, general manager of the public sector at Vector Solutions.
