For 35 years, Innovage has been helping seniors stay in their homes as long as possible by providing comprehensive care services, ranging from primary care to nutrition and transportation to specialized centers when necessary. The beneficiaries of the American company are seniors who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid (public health insurance in the United States) through the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).
Seniors enrolled in the InnovAge Colorado PACE program met with several lawmakers to share firsthand how the program provides comprehensive, person-centered care that allows them to continue living safely and independently in their homes and communities. "When lawmakers hear directly from the seniors we serve, they truly understand how PACE supports the independence, dignity, and quality of life of our beneficiaries," said Linda Whyte, director of a PACE center for the Colorado region at InnovAge.
InnovAge leaders also emphasized that, although PACE provides high-quality, cost-effective care, many seniors and caregivers are still unaware of the program's existence. "PACE works. It improves outcomes, supports caregivers, and provides responsible care for taxpayers, " said Don Nelson, Senior Vice President of InnovAge. "As the state faces difficult budget decisions, it is essential to protect programs that have proven themselves and benefit our most vulnerable population."
Colorado Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera has seen firsthand the benefits of Innovage and will take steps to increase support for organizations like the American company. "I cared for my father, keeping him in my home, where he wanted to be, until he was 101 years old. This experience shaped my understanding of the crucial nature of this work, not only as public policy, but as a reality that affects many lives, families, and communities."
