HealthDrive

Access to specialized medical care is a major logistical challenge for people living in long-term care facilities or nursing homes. Trips to hospitals or outside clinics are often complicated, costly, and stressful for elderly patients. Founded in 1989 in Massachusetts by a group of healthcare professionals, HealthDrive was created to reverse this model by bringing the clinic directly to patients.
The company operates as a vast, mobile, multi-specialty medical network. It coordinates more than 500 clinicians who travel to facilities to provide primary care, dental care, vision care, hearing care, podiatric care, and mental health care. This on-site care model eliminates unnecessary medical transport, drastically reduces emergency hospitalizations, and enables healthcare teams to detect and treat common conditions among seniors more quickly.
This model of medical care has proven effective on a very large scale. The company now serves more than 3,800 facilities across some 20 U.S. states, treating more than 150,000 patients each year. Initially supported by Bain Capital’s impact investment fund (Bain Capital Double Impact) to expand its operations, HealthDrive was acquired in August 2023 by Cressey & Company, a leading global private equity firm specializing in healthcare. This strong financial backing enables the company to accelerate its national expansion to address the growing aging population.
