About OneStream

OneStream was founded in 2010 by three former executives at Hyperion, the long-standing financial software company acquired by Oracle. Tom Shea, Bob Powers, and Craig Colby had already designed and sold their first product, UpStream, which had become a standard in accounting data management. Starting from scratch, they began with a simple observation: the finance departments of large corporations rely on a patchwork of different tools to close the books, consolidate subsidiaries, build budgets, and generate reports, with data that flows poorly from one system to another. Every switch from one software application to another costs time and increases the risk of error.

Their solution boils down to one idea: doing everything in one place, using a single dataset. Launched in 2012, the platform first attracted international industrial groups, which saw it as a way to shorten accounting close cycles that used to take weeks. The company reached the milestone of 1,000 clients on its tenth anniversary, then established its global headquarters in Birmingham, Michigan, in 2022. Its listing on the Nasdaq in July 2024 marked a milestone before a return to private ownership in early 2026.

The company closed fiscal year 2025 with $601.9 million in revenue, up 23 percent, including $550 million from subscriptions. Its teams, comprising more than 1,600 employees, now serve more than 1,800 customers. In recent years, OneStream has integrated artificial intelligence into the core of its forecasting and close tools and formed a partnership with Microsoft to bring this technology into Microsoft 365 and Azure environments. Its promise remains the same as it was on day one: to make finance teams a driver of decision-making rather than a department that merely comments on the past.
