With the increasing number of satellite launches and the accumulation of debris over time, low Earth orbit has become an extremely congested and hazardous environment. Ensuring the safety of space infrastructure requires precise tracking of objects traveling at extreme speeds. Founded in 2016 in California, LeoLabs has developed a solution to prevent these collisions from occurring and ensure the safety of space operations.
The company operates and manages its own global network of electronically scanned radars capable of operating continuously, regardless of weather conditions. This high-performance system can detect and track objects as small as 2 centimeters. Currently, the technology monitors more than 28,000 objects in orbit and makes this data available through an AI-powered software platform. Satellite operators and government agencies thus receive collision alerts and highly accurate navigation data, enabling them to maneuver safely.
As a trusted partner to the defense sector, LeoLabs experienced rapid growth, closing out 2025 with more than $60 million in new contracts. This momentum is illustrated by a staggering 186% increase in its U.S. government orders over the course of the year. Backed by approximately $129 million in funding raised from prestigious investors such as Insight Partners, the company has firmly established itself as the essential mapping infrastructure for our new space economy.
